Peace Building With Youth From Five Countries

The Summer Academy for Intercultural Dialogue is a project within the Peace and Dialogue Program of the Wings of Hope Foundation. Every year since 2007, 25 young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kurdistan-Iraq, Palestine and Israel, and from Germany have come together for a two-week exchange program in the Bavarian Alps.

The young people, aged 18 to 26, learn with and from one another. They explore how to build democratic, peaceful, and just societies, and search for ways to overcome intolerance, hatred, violence, and injustice. In doing so, they engage with individual and collective trauma, reflect on their own as well as other cultures, and develop approaches to a vibrant culture of remembrance. Through interfaith exchange, they discover common ground and experience the enriching cultural diversity of their societies in their everyday lives.

When they return home, they work to promote peace and dialogue in their countries of origin. Since the start of the program, the Summer Academy has reached hundreds of young people who continue to make a difference in their home countries.

The next Summer Academy will take place from August 17-30, 2026.

The call for applications for the Summer Academy 2026 can be found here. Applications are open to young people aged 18-26 who want to promote peace and dialogue and are fluent in English.
