An important part of our work is education, awareness-raising and socio-political engagement around the topics of violence, the consequences of traumatization and the importance of peace and reconciliation work. We do this in the form of seminars, events, networking of professionals and press work.
Awareness Raising, Lectures and Events
A decisive factor in overcoming trauma is the response of one’s personal and social environment. Knowledge about trauma and its consequences leads to improved care structures and thus increases the chances that people will receive prompt help and be able to process their experiences. This is why it is so important to sensitize professionals and institutions to the issue.
That is why we organize seminars and lectures to explain the causes and effects of trauma. Our educational seminars are aimed at both professionals and volunteers working with refugees.
We also regularly participate in public events, including exhibition openings, readings and film screenings, meetings and specialist conferences, as well as church services.
Network of Trauma Specialists
Every year, through our seminars and events, we meet hundreds of professionals from the fields of psychology and trauma work, education, pastoral care and others.
Since 2019, we have been pooling their diverse commitment in a network of around 60 professionals, some of whom meet once a year at our seminar house in the Bavarian Alps.
Together we look at trends and methods in trauma work and try out new approaches.
Opportunities for Congregations and Confirmands
As a foundation of the Evangelical Church of Bavaria, we are particularly involved in churches and parishes. We visit communities in Germany to report on our trauma care and peace building activities in Germany and our partner countries.
The generous support through collections and confirmation donations is a valuable contribution to our work.
Work on the Topic of Sexualized Violence in the Evangelical Regional Church
We support the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria in its efforts to combat sexualized violence, for example by training their staff in psychotraumatology.
Together with affected women and the Specialist Center for Dealing with Cases of Sexualized Violence, we co-organized the ‘DESPITE-EVERYTHING’ service to give hope and strength from and to women who have experienced sexualized violence.
