We are very pleased to welcome Claudia Dunckern as a new member of our board. Thanks to her many years of experience in the areas of ecumenism, migration, displacement, and asylum, she can contribute valuable insights and a great deal of professional expertise to the work of Wings of Hope.
After completing an apprenticeship with the Munich City Administration, she studied Protestant theology at LMU Munich and the University of Augsburg. This was followed by professional positions at the University of Augsburg, the Munich Dean’s Office, and as director of the Protestant Educational Institute in Fürstenfeldbruck.
She has been working at the Regional Church Office of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria since 2009. There, she initially led the ecumenical project “Danube Peace Wave” to mark the conclusion of the Decade to Overcome Violence and has been responsible for policy issues related to migration, displacement, and asylum for many years. In this role, she supports and advises people with refugee backgrounds and, among other things, advocates for their prospects of remaining in the country as a member of the Hardship Cases Commission at the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior.
What she particularly appreciates about Wings of Hope is the connection between trauma healing, reconciliation processes, and conflict transformation: “The vision of WoH—‘Healing trauma, building peace, living reconciliation’—vividly expresses the close connection between trauma healing, reconciliation processes, and conflict transformation. I’ve already sensed traces of this vision along my journey so far. I look forward to familiarizing myself with new topics and working alongside dedicated people in the spirit of this vision, moving forward together.”
We look forward to working with her and extend a warm welcome to Claudia Dunckern!
