Traumatic experiences can throw our physical and mental rhythms out of sync. It can come to a standstill, freeze or no longer be perceptible. Working with the body is necessary to influence it in a healing way and bring it back into balance. This is one of the basic ideas behind our three-part training series “Our Body Carries Us – Trauma-Sensitive Body Work According to the Flexible Power Response Guidelines”.

The first module of this series took place at the Labenbachhof in Ruhpolding from March 18 to 20, 2024. Together with body and health trainers Gaby Eder and Dieter Mayer, twelve participants set out to understand and strengthen the rhythm of their own bodies with numerous exercises and to connect it with trauma knowledge. Through personal experience and trying out physical exercises, we worked out together how those affected can be helped to stabilize their bodies again and thus alleviate the effects of trauma.

The feedback from the participants, such as “I now feel much more vital” or “the mix of different specialist knowledge was brilliant”, encourages us that we are on the right track with this concept. We look forward to continuing with the second module in July this year.
